Maybe you had treatment at another clinic. Now you would like someone to look at things with you. That is a welcome reason to book a consultation.
However you feel about it, you are welcome here. Come as you are and bring what you know. We will take it from there together.
You are welcome to come in
Some people want a second opinion before they decide anything. Some want to understand what they are seeing now. Others simply want a plan they feel comfortable with.
Each of those is a good reason to come in. You do not need to explain yourself or justify the visit. We will listen, give you time and talk it through at your pace.
Write down what you have noticed
A few notes before your visit go a long way. Details are easy to forget once you are sitting down and talking.
Use your own words. You might note:
- what you have noticed, and when you first noticed it
- whether it has changed, settled or stayed the same
- whether you see it all the time, or only when you smile, talk or move
- the date of your treatment, even if it is only a rough guess
Older photos of yourself can help too. They show your face before the treatment, which is useful to have with you.
Give things time to settle
This part can be a relief to hear. After a treatment, skin often goes through a settling period. Some swelling, bruising or tenderness can be part of that.
Looking at something while it is still settling can give a confusing picture. So sometimes the kindest plan is to wait a little, then look again together. Waiting is a choice in its own right. If it would suit you better, we will tell you.
When to get help straight away
Some signs need attention straight away. These include sudden or severe pain, skin that turns white, dusky or mottled, or any change in your vision.
If you notice any of these, ring the clinic that treated you now. If your vision changes, or you cannot reach them, call 000 or go to an emergency department.
What to bring
Anything from your first clinic is useful. That might be a treatment record, a receipt, a consent form, an appointment confirmation or an aftercare message.
Your health records belong to you. You can ask the clinic that treated you for a copy. It is a standard request.
If you have nothing to bring, please come anyway. A rough date and your own memory are a fine place to start.
What happens at a review consultation
A review is a consultation, so it starts with getting to know you.
We ask what you have noticed and how long it has been on your mind. We ask about your health, any medicines you take and any treatments you have had before. Tell us about anything you are unsure of, too.
Then we look at your skin and features with you, at rest and as you move. We take our time. We explain what we see in plain words.
We talk through your options, what each one involves and what each one costs. You can take all of that away in writing. Coming in does not commit you to anything.
What an assessment can and cannot tell you
An assessment can show where things are now. It can show whether something still seems to be settling. It also helps map out your options, including doing nothing for now.
There are some limits worth knowing. Without records from your first clinic, nobody can know exactly what was used or where. That is one reason no one can promise a particular outcome. Every face also responds in its own way, so any plan is shaped around you.
Where you might go from here
After a review, you might hear one of these:
- wait a while, then come back on a set date to look again
- nothing needs doing, and here is what to keep an eye on
- here are your options and costs, so take them home and think it over
- another practitioner would suit what you need, and here is who to speak to
Each of these is a complete answer. You can decide in your own time.
Going back to your first clinic
Your first clinic is also a good place to talk things through. They hold your records. They know what was used, how much and where.
You are also free to get a second opinion. You do not need anyone’s permission. Both paths are reasonable, and you can choose the one that feels right for you.
If you would like to read ahead, you can browse our treatments before your visit.
Talk it through with us
If you would like a second opinion, we would love to meet you. Book a consultation at our clinic in Fairfield. Bring your notes and your questions. You are welcome to bring someone along, too.
Individual results vary from person to person. A consultation does not guarantee a particular outcome, and for some people the answer is that no treatment is appropriate. Our services are for adults aged 18 and over.
